The UTEC plugs in-line with your factory ECU harness using OEM connectors and can be installed in as little as 20 minutes. The UTEC takes over control of the engine's ignition timing, fueling, and boost control, amongst other things. The UTEC, although user programmable, comes preprogrammed as a plug and play unit. It optimizes the engine's ignition and fuel curves as well as turning up the boost on the factory electronic boost solenoid. On the WRX, the UTEC increases the factory boost level from 12.1 psi up to 15.1 psi, thereby boosting the factory power output from 227 HP to 275 HP. The UTEC will come pre-programmed with the Stage 1 parameters, however, you can download the Stage 2 on up settings from the TurboXS website when you decide to step-up to the next stages.
